SCWEC Training of Trainers on “Marketing and Packaging of Products- Promoting Gender Equality in Trade”

SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) organized a three day training programme for trainers on “Marketing and Packaging of Products– Promoting Gender Equality in Trade” in partnership with GIZ, initiated by SAARC Trade Promotion Network (TPN) on October 5-7, 2016 at Pearl Continental, Lahore.

Participants from SAARC states attended the training, including Ms. Kobra Dastgirzada and Ms. Shikiba Abdul Qayoom from Afghanistan, Ms. Mahalaxmi Shrestha and Ms. Sunita Vaidya Shrestha joined from Nepal, Ms. Janaka devi Kathriarachchu and Ms. Sunanda Weerasinghe attended the training from Sri Lanka, Ms. Ghazala Saifi, Saadia Waseem and Ms. Azra Jamshed from Pakistan, Ms. Munthaha Aboobakuru and Ms. Fathmath Naja Shareef from Maldives and finally Ms. Shaheen Akhter and Ms. Elham Huq came to Lahore from Bangladesh.

GIZ as a facilitator has built the capacity of women entrepreneurs of SAARC countries and aims to expand the trade corridor for women to participate in business for affluent, fair and more equivalent South Asia. The Training of Trainers was essentially designed for the members of the SAARC TPN, national member organizations of SCWEC and affiliated partners. It was intended to develop a pool of exceedingly accomplished trainers for SCWEC who would further replicate the training in their respective countries with the support of the local business chambers.

A competitive recruitment procedure was held after which, Mr. Usman Arshad was selected as a Master Trainer to conduct the three day training programme on ‘Marketing and Packaging of Products– Promoting Gender Equality in Trade’.

The training was organized with an objective to enhance the capacities of women entrepreneurs in product sales and encourage the participation of women entrepreneurs to bring gender equality in trade.

The training commenced with the welcome remarks by Vice President (SAARC CCI) Mr. Iftikhar Ali Malik, Chair (SAARC CCI) Mr. Zubair Ahmad Malik, and Vice Chairperson (SCWEC- Pakistan Chapter) Ms. Hina Mansab Khan.

Training material comprised of national differences in the SAARC region pertaining to the subject matters, and explicit bilateral affairs between the Member States of the SAARC. The moderator of this three day training aimed to deliver the participants with the knowledge, skills and tools to effectively capture and amplify the understanding on marketing, packaging and gender equality in trade.
