Training of Trainers on “Export and Import Procedures Promoting gender equality in trade,” for SCWEC members

2nd to 4th March, 2016, Galadari Hotel, Colombo, Sri Lanka.
SAARC Chamber of Industry (SAARC CCI) in partnership with GIZ, organized a Training of Trainers for members of SAARC Chamber Women Entrepreneurs Council (SCWEC) on “Export and Import Procedures Promoting gender equality in trade,” on 2nd to 4th March, 2016 at Galadari Hotel, Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The notion behind the Training of Trainers module was the capacity building of targeted women entrepreneurs i.e. members of SCWEC Chapters in order to promote the gender equality in the trade and to enable women entrepreneurs to understand the dynamics and challenges of doing business in today’s complex trade mechanism and to enable the women entrepreneurs of the South Asian region to cope with the demands of today’s complex trade mechanism. The assignment was aimed at developing a pool of highly skilled trainers for SCWEC.

Training program commenced with Inaugural session which was addressed by Mr..Sarath Kahapalaarachi, President FCCISL, Mr. Tissa Jayaweera, Vice President, SAARC CCI (Sri Lanka Chapter) Mr. Ajith Wattuhewa, Snr Vice President (Elect), SAARC CCI (Sri Lanka), Mr. Zubair Ahmed Malik, Executive Committee Member, SAARC CCI (Pakistan), Ms. Rifa Musthapha, Vice Chairperson, SCWEC (Sri Lanka) and moderated by Zulfiqar Ali Butt, Deputy Secretary General, SAARC CCI.
The training, which covered important topics such as Legal and financial aspects of international trade was conducted by an International certified Trainer Mr. Usman Arshad. The training focused on the areas of export Quotation Worksheet/s, Pro Forma Invoice, International sales contracts, Negotiation skills, Rules of sale – Incoterms, Methods of payment, Import/export financing, Letter of credit payment process, Settlement of disputes, Preferential trading, E-commerce, Logistics and import/export procedures, Commercial and legal documents, Customs related exports, Cargo insurance carriers liability Transport and freight forwarding - related documentation, Duty-free access to imported inputs, Export packaging and air cargo procedures, BOI (Board of Investment) procedures and Gender based concessions, in case existed.

Participants of the training includes, Ms. Habiba Sadeqi & Ms. Manizha Wafeq from Afghanistan, Ms. Sumaiya Zaman & Ms. Sabera Ahmed Choudary from Bangladesh, Ms. Deki Choden & Ms. Nima Lhamu from Bhutan, Ms. Anuja Narain, Ms. Poonam Singhal & Ms. Neha Garg from India, Ms. Reeta R L Simha & Ms. Sarojani Sherchan from Nepal, Ms. Aishath Naseera & Ms Naseema Zakariyya from Maldives, Ms. Salma Gul, Ms. Dur-e-Shawar & Ms. Zubia Zubair from Pakistan, Ms. Ayanthi Gurusingha, Ms. W. L. A. D. Chandrathilaka, Ms. Sarrah Sammoon, Ms. Samitha Hettiarachchi Perera & Ms. Yasisurie from Sri Lanka. in order to develop trainers for Training, series of training will be organizes in other SAARC countries as well.
