China South Asia Women Entrepreneurs Roundtable Meeting at Kunming City, China

The Yunnan Provincial Women Federation CCPIT, organized roundtable meeting of women entrepreneurs between China and South Asia under the theme “Integrating into the Construction of Silk Road Economic Belt: Promoting the Cooperation in Women Entrepreneurship” in Kunming city of China on 13th June, 2015.

Mrs. Shaista Pervaiz Malik , Chairperson of the SAARC Chamber Women Entrepreneurs Council (SCWEC) was the chief guest of the meeting. In her key note address Mrs. Shaista Pervaiz Malik, called for legislation, policies and mechanisms to remove the barriers hindering the development of women entrepreneurs. She highlighted the vital role women entrepreneurs play in the development of a country and called for increasing women entrepreneurship participation, improving women’s access to business support systems and enhancing networking and business opportunities for women entrepreneurs.

Ms. Yan Youqiong, Counselor of the Yunnan Women Entrepreneurs Association in address said that the meeting reflected the common aspiration of businesswomen in the region for strengthened cooperation and mutual benefits, providing new opportunities for them to enhance their understanding and seek practical ways for cooperation. She added that the roundtable meeting was held at a time of increasing political trust and deepening economic and trade cooperation between China and South Asian countries.

Mr. Lu Yamin, Vice Director of the International Department of the All-China Women's Federation was also present at the event along with He Hongmei, President of the Yunnan Women's Federation who concluded the meeting with a call for concerted efforts to promote regional cooperation and women entrepreneurship. The meeting was chaired by Rita Punwani, President of the Women's Research Institute of the Indian Chamber of Commerce.
